The magnificent Nossa Senhora da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o do Ilh\u00e9u Fort was built in 1630 by Bartolomeu Jo\u00e3o to protect the land from cruel pirates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its walls were revamped in 1654 to establish an even more unbeatable defence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To this day, it stands as a testament to the region’s resistance history.
