The island’s capital, Funchal, is surrounded by mountains and overlooks the Atlantic. At one end you will find the marina, the starting point for boat trips around the island, several restaurants and cafes. In the historic center, the series of traditional streets are lined with stores, museums, and gardens, and also the Cathedral.
