On the busy Rua da Carreira, Londres is perfect for a pleasant dinner, tasty food and friendly service, ideal for a laid-back evening.
The restaurant has traditional decoration without falling into the cliché to attract tourists. Chairs are nice to sit in.
The atmosphere is vibrant and bustling at lunchtime.
It is close to Funchal’s most popular attractions. Just a few steps, we visit the imposing Funchal Cathedral, the fascinating Museum of Sacred Art, and São Lourenço Palace.
In addition, Funchal Cable Car is just a 10-minute walk away along Mar avenue.

The restaurant is open every day from 11:45 am to 3:45 pm and from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, except Sundays.

Naturally, the typical dishes of Madeira are the menu highlight: the Madeiran kebab (espetada regional) and swordfish with banana, limpets as starters.
We tried the Madeiran kebab, which was delicious.
The meat was tender and juicy. We also ordered the swordfish with a banana, an amazing dish.
They cooked it to perfection, with a soft, flavourful texture, and the banana added a sweet, unexpected twist.
The starters, like the limpets, were small and tasty, perfect to whet your appetite before the main courses.
Also, don’t forget to taste one of the excellent wines on the menu. With generous portions, you will certainly leave satisfied!
Price
Prices at Restaurante Londres are reasonable. The average cost per person was €22 (includes drink, starter and dessert), which we thought: fair.
Service
The restaurant staff is attentive and helpful, willing to help choose dishes from the menu. They made sure that our experience was memorable.
