A new temple was constructed in the late 18th century and completed in the 19th century due to its deplorable state and increasing population.

The church is renowned for its grandiose celebrations of 2 liturgical feasts in August: the Most Holy Sacrament and Nossa Senhora da Graça, the the community patron saint.

The feast in honour of the revered Nossa Senhora da Graça takes place on August 15th, with the Solemn Eucharist beginning at 5 p.m. and accompanied by a beautiful procession.
