Lido Promenade Location

The Lido Promenade starts at Complexo Balnear de Lido and ends at Doca Do Cavacas. This 2-kilometre walk is one of the best in Funchal, offering great views of the coast and ocean.

Visiting Funchal is incomplete without a stroll down the Lido Promenade. It is the home to three public pools, the most notable being the Lido Complex’s large saltwater pool.

The sun’s brightness at various times of the day and the sky’s shifting hues as it rises and sets both accentuate the beauty of the water.

Along the way, you’ll also find Gorgulho Beach and the iconic Formosa Beach. There are a plethora of cafes and bars. We enjoy a refreshment or a bite at the promenade on both ends.

The nearby Madeira Forum is a modern shopping centre with shops and restaurants and 6 movie theatres.

The area from Lido to Praia Formosa, with palm trees and beaches, is a popular tourist destination and is worth visiting.

For those who want to taste the traditional food of Madeira, there are many restaurants along the promenade.

Here you will find local dishes such as espetada (skewered beef), Carne de vinha d’alhos (meat cooked in garlic and wine sauce), and Bolo de Mel (honey cake).

In addition to dining, visitors can also enjoy live music performances and spectacular sunsets. The promenade is a perfect place to take a leisurely stroll and take in the sights and sounds of the island.
