Honey Cake from Madeira is characterized by its deep colour and intense flavour derived from sugar cane.

Although it may be dry, the texture is out of this world, and it’s the perfect indulgence during Christmas.

The recipe for this delicious pastry originated in a Franciscan monastery in Monchique, Algarve. It was brought to Madeira by a monk who shared the secret – we’re sure glad he did!

If you’re looking to buy some, it’s best to do so at the factory itself because the prices in tourist and airport shops are double.

Trust us, this is the base of your stock, and you’ll enjoy the freshest and most authentic taste.

Don’t miss out on this tasty treat!
