The Ponta Gorda Beach Complex is great for basking in the warm sun or taking a refreshing dip in one of its many pools. Its excellence was awarded the Blue Flag every year since 2001.

The Ponta Gorda Beach Complex is in the east region of Funchal, very close to the Lido Promenade, which regularly attracts tourists and locals.

Admission Price

  • Adults can buy a ticket for €5.00
  • Young people with a youth or student card: €1.8
  • Free for children under 10 years old
  • The use of Beach Umbrellas and Sunbeds incurs an extra fee:
  • Umbrellas cost €2;
  • Sunbeds: €2.1

Opening Hours

In the bathing season:

  • Monday to Saturday, from 8am to 10pm.
  • closed on sunday

In addition to the natural pool, we have found two artificial pools, one for adults and the other designed for children.

We also have access to the sparkling Madeira ocean water. The sunbathing area has about 700 square meters.

The beach infrastructure does not only include public restrooms and showers. We also have a bar, a first-aid station, a children’s playground, and a sandy field.

The supporting bar offers mouth-watering meals.




Things to do nearby:

The complex is situated directly beside the Clube Naval beach complex.

To the north, there are rock formations featuring dwellings and lodgings.
Just a stone’s throw away lies the Madeira Forum, one of the island’s most popular commercial centres.

Proceeding westward, you will soon arrive at the Formosa Beach facilities and Câmara de Lobos fishing village.

The Lido Beach Complex can be found to the east and is a ten-minute drive from the CR7 Museum and the Funchal Port.
