Ambience

It is a charming, rustic restaurant surrounded by an aromatic herbs garden. It is the perfect place to enjoy a tea cup while watching the sunset. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.

It is common to find tourists as patrons at this restaurant, most of them passionate about the stunning levadas and spectacular views from the nearby viewpoint.

We allowed ourselves to be taken in by the scenery, which had a calming effect on our souls. As we breathed in the aroma of the herbs, our eyes wandered off to the horizon.

In the past, goods were transported here via a cable car to the Fajã below, where they were taken to Funchal by sea.

Menu – Food

We indulge in the swordfish with fried banana and a refreshing poncha.

Swordfish is a true gem of the Madeiran seas, and when combined with the plantain banana, it creates pure magic.

The swordfish melted in our mouths, releasing its smooth and refreshing flavour, enhanced by a carefully balanced touch of lemon and seasoning.

To complete this culinary experience, we chose the poncha. Made with local rum and freshly squeezed lemon juice, it was a smooth drink that almost tempted us to order another round, but we decided to maintain our composure.

For dessert, we savoured the chocolate and lemon cakes, accompanied by herbal tea made with freshly picked herbs from the garden.

The chocolate cake was dense, rich, and had an intense cocoa flavour that exploded in our mouths with each bite. We almost felt guilty, devouring it in seconds…

But life is short, and the lemon cake isn’t going to eat itself…

Price

While dining at this charming, rustic restaurant, we were delighted to discover the excellent value for money it offers. Despite paying an average price of €23 per person, we enjoyed high-quality food and impeccable service.

It’s important to note that affordable prices do not always indicate a lack of quality, and this restaurant is a perfect example. The food is delicious and an exceptional choice for anyone looking for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.

Service

The staff at the establishment were incredibly hospitable, always greeting us with a warm smile. In fact, we would rather not leave!

Conclusion

Casa De Chá is the perfect place for a peaceful and contemplative moment at sunset, with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, stunning views, and delicious food.
